May 9th, 2007, Gail delivered "How to Love Networking" as a webinar through ExecuNet*. The participants were executive business owners and those in job search. Using a very effective software tool, 37 women and men were able to participate from all over the world.
An online polling feature allowed the collection of participant rankings on a 1-10 scale of their comfort levels with networking, before and after the webinar (10 means they love it!). As you'll see in the results below, over 63% of the group moved up the scale 25-40% as a result of Gail's networking philosophies and tips and through the use of a metaphor as a new approach to meeting others. Participant Comments.
- "Gail, thank you. This is the first time this subject has stuck to my Teflon brain. The approach was simple, clear and relevant without being too stiff, technical or "touchy feely". Having been down/right sized, merged, acquired and divested many times, I've been in outplacement and the pressure to dial for dollars was too much for me."
- "The workshop focused on the tough aspect of why people shy away and how to make networking a natural part of yourself."
- "Gail's discussion re: "Spending her life waiting and being a corporate refuge" was inspiring. The concept of re-framing networking to fit what I find rewarding was valuable."
Would you recommend others attend this workshop?
- "To people that don't know anything about networking or have hang ups about networking."
- "Yes... as Gail said.. there is a lot of hype and "prescriptives" out there... Her view of how to approach networking makes it more relaxed and appealing."
In a follow-up call, participants reported greater comfort in attending organized networking events, making follow-up calls and having more meaningful conversations. They loved using their special metaphors and understanding how to apply them to obstacles.
